Why have a CEMIP ?

To prevent and rule on disputes resulting from the professional practices of companies within the Pharmaceutical Industry sector.

To sanction conduct which breaches the industry’s code of ethics.

4 missions must be distinguished:

advice / consultation: on request by a member, the Plenary Authority formulates an opinion of a general nature about issues relating to professional practice.

recommendation: on request by an authority of the CEMIP or by the Leem Council, the Plenary Authority can make recommendations for all members of the CEMIP to implement their actions.

mediation: in case of lack of consensus among members over a professional practice, the Ethics Commission, or its president alone in case of emergency, seeks and proposes an amicable settlement.

regulation: after initial validation by the Secretariat, the first ruling by the Ethics Commission and then adjudication by the Appeal Chamber if necessary, the CEMIIP can demand that the company ceases the practice which breaches the code. It can also impose sanctions which range from a simple warning to publishing a notice in the professional press condemning the practice and naming the company in question as well as temporarily prohibiting them from mentioning their affiliation to the CEMIP in their advertising.
